Up for sale is a very rare Gibson The Les Paul in rosewood finish. Guitar was made in 1979 aiming to be the highest end Les Paul on market at the time which it was. The Les Paul has been pictured in a few famous books to date displaying the incredible craftsmanship of that era. Knobs, Pickguard, Pickup rings, back plates are all rosewood along with the brass truss rod cover. All of the gold looks great showing little tarnish from over the years. Guitar does show some very small weather checks on the body while having one slight little imprint on the back of the body that I tried to get a picture of. Wood binding iS showing slight cracking because of the rosewood binding having expanded to cause finish checking over time, see bottom picture of the guitar to note. Frets show little to no play wear while having a nice heafty weight to the guitar weight 12lbs! Back of the headstock reads Reg. No. 66 12-26-79 while having stamped Second under that. The story I have heard is that all of these rosewood Les Pauls were stamped second. There were only 70 some of these ever made and I can say I have yet to have seen another rosewood one, theres a few Natural ones around but not rosewood. If I am incorrect in that theory then my next idea would say it is because of the checking with the binding. Guitar has been stored properly for the last 30 years as it's been in my possession. Also comes with the original paperwork along with the original hardshell case. This is a serious Gibson or Les Paul collectors dream must have piece!
